THE EXTONMOSS EXPERIMENT

The ExtonMoss Experiment is a series of podcasts exploring the British television archives. Myself and Simon Exton have been friends for 14 years following a chance meeting at the premiere screening of the Doctor Who episode 'Rose' at The Vines in Liverpool back in March 2005. Since then, we have met up regularly to watch episodes of long-forgotten television series, plus copious amounts of Doctor Who!

Recording has now been completed on the first 30 episodes each edition is around 50 minutes long.

Simon said, "As Ken records voiceovers and audiobooks from his home studio, I suggested that our television binges should be documented in the form of commentary podcasts. After some consideration, it was decided that only episodes of Doctor Who would get full commentaries as these are likely to be the ones which listeners are most familiar with. All other television episodes will be discussed with a plot synopsis and then a ten minute discussion once we have watched it."

Simon's knowledge and back catalogue of old television is incredible so I am coming to many of these episodes having never seen them before. It makes quite a nice contrast as I'm offering opinions as a first-time viewer in many instances. Each of the episodes will have a distinct theme, for example Episode 4 is the two editions of Doctor Who which were broadcast on our respective birthdays. "

Episode 1 covered the two recorded episodes of The Quatermass Experiment starring Reginald Tate and also the 2005 remake featuring Jason Flemyng and David Tennant and was released on Saturday 4th August 2018 at 8.45pm to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the original broadcast on the BBC in 1953.
